Earthquake hits Taiwan
TAIPEI, Taiwan – A powerful 6.4-magnitude earthquake rocked southern Taiwan on Thursday, terrifying residents, disrupting communications and triggering at least one large fire. Sixty-four people were injured, the National Fire Agency said.
Nicolas Chartier's invitation to the 82nd annual Academy Awards has been rescinded.
Monday the Academy decided that it would rescind only Chartier’s invitation, “stopping short” of pulling “The Hurt Locker” out of the running altogether.

Uganda landslide
The death toll in a landslide in eastern Uganda has risen to 55, as the search and rescue efforts for hundreds of missing continues.
Head of Uganda’s Red Cross, Michael Nataka, said Tuesday that the landslide has buried three villages in Bududa district near Mount Elgon.
Officials fear the rain-triggered landslide in the mountainous region, which lies some 275 kilometers (170 miles) east of the capital, Kampala, may have buried another 350 people.
Officials expect more landslides in the coming weeks, as further heavy rains were in the forecast for the region.
Landslides are part of life in Uganda during the rainy season, but the latest instance has been considered quite serious for its high number of victims.

Susan Dey
The “Partridge Family” cast was one member short when they reunited on television Tuesday morning.
The cast of the popular ’70s sitcom appeared on the “Today Show” as part of their “Great TV Families Reunited” series, but actress Susan Dey, who played eldest daughter Laurie Partridge, was not in attendance.
Danny Bonaduce, who in the years after his child stardom faced drug addiction and legal troubles, was present for the reunion.
The show, which centered around a widow and her five children who embark on a music career, aired from 1970-1974.
A similar absence occurred Monday morning, when the cast of “Eight is Enough” reunited on the morning program minus actor Adam Rich. The actor endured many personal issues after his time on the show, including arrests and substance abuse.
